Saturday 27 December 2008: Mince pies
I reckon that was the last one of the season which, at 240 calories a go, is probably just as well.
But they have got me thinking: In an age where being dropped in the fruit and veg aisle of your local supermarket would offer no clue to the current season, why do we only consume mince pies, christmas pudding and funny-flavoured cheeses shrink-wrapped to planks of wood at this time of year? If they were really so great, wouldn't we eat them all year round?
Mini eggs escaped from their Easter-trap years ago - why not the mighty mince pie?
And a decorated tree in the living room in July? Why not?
