This ampersand is on my shedquarters door - it's an old shop sign letter, used to be blue but over time it's rusted to this lovely shade. The ampersand is my favourite character in the alphabet - interestingly around the 1830’s reciting the alphabet would end in "X, Y, Z, and per se and". This last phrase was then slurred to "ampersand" and the term entered common English.  ‘Per se’ means ‘by itself’ - used to make clear that ‘and’ is not being repeated i.e. and and. When I was choosing a name for my business I chose AndMark as it implied 'working with me' - You and Mark etc, and of course I got to use an ampersand too (it also had the advantage of having a domain name available too).
