Blencow Hall

My walk today took me past Blencow Hall.  An interesting place!  Archeology has shown the hall to be older than the 1590 on the entrance and the gap in the south tower (shown) is said to date from the civil war.

When I first knew this place it was a a ruin with a farm house tucked into the middle.  The ruins were full of Swifts which I assume found suitable nest sites among the stones.  Now it has been converted to luxury holiday accommodation and the farm moved away.  With the massive decline in the swift population I am not sure which I prefer.
