Growing old disgracefully

BEE-ING PRESENT

To Waterstones this morning with the Professor. It has been far too long since we spent time browsing in a bookshop and this was an ideal use of a wet morning. We came away with some new books for the VIP and two guide books for me - a much expanded guide to the Nikon D3100 and one for identifying British insects - hopefully tje second will make up for yesterday's mistake!

By the time we were on the train home the sun had broken through the clouds so I enjoyed a long afternoon working in the garden. Cut out all the old raspberry canes and tied in next year's shoots. Although the summer raspberries are over, there are lots of lovely Autumn Bliss in flower and attracting the attention of hoverflies and bees. I freeze the berries and we have a handful every morning on our porridge. Lifted the onions and left them in the greenhouse to dry. We have been eating them for weeks but still have enough to fill a large net bag. I cleared the overgrown onion bed - it is absolutely infested with mares tail - and got it ready for autumn planting.

GOOD THINGS:
Hearing the excited voice of our Canadian grandaughter over the phone on her 7th birthday
Pollinating insects - where would we be without them?
My Nikon D3100 -After 8 months of going steady, I think we may be about to enter a new phase in our relationship.

EXERCISE DIARY:
Three hours hard work in the garden. That's aerobic - right?
