Went to see the Cildo Meireles exhibition at Tate Modern today. Very exciting, probably almost as good as the Fischli and Weiss last year. Lots of rooms with different stuff! Don't know quite how to describe it otherwise and the poster doesn't do it any justice at all. The last room is the wierdest and I have to say I was a LITTLE concerned about spontaneous combustion.

Whilst me and youngest son were in the queue to one of the restricted numbers rooms, there was an 'incident'. The queue runs through a small gallery which is very dimly lit apart from one corner where a small spotlight about 2 feet in diameter lights up this which is laid directly on the wooden floor. A family group came through to check out what was at the front of the queue and when they left the area there was no sign of the artwork!

Youngest son nudged me and said that he saw one of the kids run past it and accidently kick it out of the spotlight, so I had to go and tell the security lady who let out a scream and we spent the next 5 minutes searching the gloom until we found the 'priceless artwork' and then she blu-tacked it back to the floor!

I asked her if it happened often and she said it occasionally did - and the last time it had happened they caught the woman who had kicked it off surreptitiously trying to sneak it into her bag!!
