Japenese Wineberry!

The car was in the garage again, so a very homey day. The sun shone and it felt like a proper summers day, I realised how few of those we have had! Last autumn we planted a dozen or so blueberry bushes, so I spent some time clearing the long grass from around them and then using it for a mulch, it was good to do this work whilst munching delicious blueberries!
The Japenese Wineberries ( Rubus phoenicolasius ) are ripening nicely, I'm always surprised the birds don't eat then as they are lovely and sweet, maybe the sticky red hairs of the calyx deters them.
Off out this evening with freespiral, himself and friends, to a local fund raising event, a fashion show compared by Graham Norton, not quite sure what to expect but I think it will be fun!
