Friday 31 August 2012: Fields of Gold

Ok, so technically that song is about fields of barley, and not canola, but never mind.
I had another field trip today with my Ag Science class. We visited a couple of farms in the Winchlesea and Inverleigh area that are having a lot of success with some really modern, progressive, and most importantly, sustainable farming practices like precision agriculture and working with the environment to minimise the need for herbicides and pesticides. It's really good to see our farmers embracing these ideas and reaping the rewards for them.
