Mystery Island

Well what a glorious sight. A real uninhabited South Pacific island tucked far away from mainland Vanuatu, circled by a sandy beach and lapped by inviting turquoise waters. Due to the shallow reef surrounding the island we had to anchor offshore and take a long tender in before landing on this mini paradise. An entire day here was spent swimming and snorkelling. I simply did not want the day to end and we saw some wonderful tropical fish around the coral stacks. The only disappointment was that much of the coral looked dead following a cyclone a couple of years ago, but the exciting thing was that in some places there were clear signs of the coral starting to grow again. I have snorkelled before, many years ago, but I was amazed at the variety of fish here and the colours. Unfortunately not enough sunblock was put on to cater for the length of time in the water but it was worth it!
