Teston

Looking over the tail of the fish and canoe pass towards Teston bridge. The bridge is a Grade I listed building and a scheduled ancient monument and has been here since the 15th C. The arches were widened in 1749 to accommodate larger barges after the river was made navigable above Maidstone. The fish pass is a far later addition; a couple of years at most.

Lovely weather so I sat by the lock for an hour or so with a book, I'm likely to be busy for the next few days so it was right to take a little time out.
