The Shack

Following yesterdays carriage restoration blip another one today ,this time a wooden building known as The Shack which stands in the garden of Mottistone Manor owned by the National Trust.
The shack was designed in the early 1930s by John Seely, 2nd Lord Mottistone and Mr Paul Paget who were partners in the architectural practice Seely and Paget, surveyors to the fabric of St. Paul's Cathedral.
They used The Shack as a retreat from London life, a place to relax and work without distraction.
The building was probably cutting edge design in its day with kitchen ,toilet, heating and even two bunk beds in the roof. Note the car handles to wind up the windows.
The Shack was donated to the Trust by Mrs Verily Paget, widow of Paul Paget in 1987 and has been restored to show how it would have been used by the two architects .It now stands in the tea garden of the Manor.
I took two photographs by balancing the camera on the wooden sink unit and combined them into a panorama in Autopan Pro. which has worked amazingly well.
Today was beautifully warm and sunny, ideal for a stroll around the grounds of the Manor which is well worth a visit at any time of the year.
