Andy Roddick's Farewell

Andy Roddick played his last career match today, at the US Open tennis championships. He had announced his retirement a few days ago, while still in the tournament; he won one more match but lost today to Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina.

Andy Roddick is the last American tennis player to win a major championship--that was the US Open in 2003. Since then he has been the leading figure in U.S. tennis (not least on our Davis Cup teams), showing the way with skill, good sportsmanship and a keen sense of humor. He will be sorely missed.
