Insect Wallpaper

After a rough crossing - a marble would have actually rolled off the table - we arrived in Brittany. To be honest it was very wet and windy when we left Portsmouth last night and we were expecting an exciting crossing - though the 25000 tonne MV Bretagne sailed smoothly though it all without any problems.

As we glided into harbour I went out on deck to see what I could catch. I took a few nice pictures of light bursting out from behind the clouds and a few nice shots of Saint Malo - they will appear on Google Picasaweb shortly.

After clearing customs we set off across Brittany to it's southern tip where we put the tent up and had a walk into town. Clisson (Klison in Breton) is a very pretty small town with a massive castle at it's centre. In the 19th century the castle ruins and much of the town was turned into a very pretty Italianate picture post card town.

At La Garenne Lemot, there was an art display, several of the rooms had hundred of insects pinned to the walls as wallpaper - quite stunning to look at. I'll put more pictures of the place up on Picasaweb as it's hard to comprehend how many hundreds of insects were pinned to the walls to create the display. Best looked at BIG!

Back Blip.
