Pink granite castle

We had a good walk along the cliff path to Stonehaven to get a newspaper. The unusual Doric war memorial stands on the hill, commemorating the dead in 2 world wars. I didn't know that a fifth of the UK dead were from Scotland - a disproportionately large number given the population. A quarter of those who went were killed.

We headed up to Craigevie castle to have another walk and a very good tour round this interesting turret dating from the early 16th century.

Now we are in Muir of Fowlis staying overnight with a friend we met when doing the Cuillin Rdge in Skye.
