Symphony

The last concert of the winter 2016/17 season by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and what an excellent concert it was too.

An opening piece - a Scottish premiere no less - by Jorg Widmann was followed by a superb Brahms double concerto for violin and cello (brother and sister soloists too). The second half was a fabulous performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 7. The quiet, delicate parts of this were breath-taking in their restraint, while the SCO gave the crescendo and louder parts the full treatment. Fabulous stuff!
