Craning Our Necks

On the way out for our walk we noticed a Very Large Crane - the sort you see on a building site - in the middle of a douce housing area. Naturally we had to have a closer look.

The crane was totally blocking the road, and the jib, some 100 feet long, appeared to support a cage of chaps trimming a tree in a back garden; we joined another local in discussing the folly of using so large vehicle for such a simple purpose. Then we realised that they were actually working on a telegraph pole, cutting the cables (the cage at the end of the rope is blue, just visible in large).

We later discovered that they had removed the pole altogether - presumably to replace it - I wonder how long the crane will remain in place.
