Lunch

This morning was overcast and "only" 25C. So we decided to go to the spa in Gruissan, where we spent a pleasant two hours trying everything, including hammam, sauna, multiple jacuzzis, and the pool that gets a couple of bottles of red wine poured into it at 12 o'clock on the dot. No, I don't know what benefits external application of diluted wine is supposed to have.

When we came out, the sun had broken through and the temperature was clearly going to start rising. So we headed to a tapas bar in the village with a shady terrace -- eschewing wine for water, we shared a lovely plate of tomatoes with burrata and a couple of chorizo-based tapas, then ambled down the street to buy ice creams.

By the time we got home, the heat outdoors was once more unbearable, so it was indoors with fan going and shutters closed, for a bit of a siesta. Now that it's cooler, I've made a refreshing dinner of courgette gratin with salad, followed by apricots poached in rosé, all served lukewarm. I think we'll have to stop cooking indoors though, and just barbecue stuff outside. No sign of the heat subsiding before the weekend.
