Tuesday 18 September 2012: Canna
This is one of the plants that I mentioned yesterday and already, in just a few weeks, it's grown a beautiful flower and there are two new shoots coming at the base of the plant too.
It has sustained some wind damage even though it's in the most sheltered spot in the garden, and the winds we've had recently are nothing like as fierce as we get during the winter months. There will be no point at all in trying to protect it with bubble-wrap or gardeners' fleece, the wind will just shred it, so if the plant survives all well and good, if it doesn't I shan't bother with it again.
