A battered butterfly

This rather attractive little fellow was in butterfly heaven this afternoon as he enjoyed a good forage in some lavender.
I don't know what make it is, but he looks as though he has been in some sort of trouble and appears to be missing a chunk of his tail. There's another shot in the extra which also shows the damage.
