Herring Gulls, Broadstairs
Lined up along the harbour arm in Broadstairs, all different ages of Herring Gulls. The full adult with grey back and white plumage, the mottled first-year juvenile and the second or third year bird at the far end with grey and white coming through the brown feathers.
We have regular defined stops on our Viking Cycle way from Reculver around the Isle of Thanet, through Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Pegwell Bay then inland to Minster and St Nicholas at Wade before picking up the coast again for the final few miles back to Reculver. Almost a year since our last trip around the coast
Broadstairs is for chips and may be fish or prawns, West Bay to coffee and scones, Pegwell Bay for a cup of tea and a pint and bag of crisps at the King Ethelbert pub at the end.
A glorious day albeit with a stiff easterly breeze in our faces for the first 10 miles or so until we turned the corner at North Foreland after which the wind was a help rather than a hindrance. The last few miles along the coast back to Reculver was a breeze! Bowling along with the wind behind with very little effort.
The extra is of the harbour at Broadstairs
