Micro macro

Ran my moth trap yesterday and had lots of micro-moths to sort through and identify. I had lots of this one, Endotricha flammealis, which seems to be increasing locally. It's a beautiful richly coloured little moth (actually quite large for a 'micro') that always seems to rest with the end of its abdomen raised. There were plenty of much smaller moths to struggle with - extra photo shows another numerous one from yesterday, Blastobasis adustella, posing next to its illustration by Richard Lewington in the absolutely essential Field Guide to the Micro-moths of Great Britain and Ireland, Sterling & Parsons. The pages are getting well thumbed!
