Bingham's Pond

Today I discovered the advantages of having a daughter living near Anniesland.

Not only was I provided with lunch and dog-sitting services, but I was also able to walk from her flat to Gartnavel General Hospital for my check-up at the eye clinic.

On the way I passed Bingham's Pond, unrecognisable from the 1960s when I knew it as a popular spot for boating and ice-skating.

Nowadays it is a public park used by patients and visitors to the hospital, and the island in the middle is a sanctuary for birds. You may be able to make out a couple of swans and five cygnets on the right.
