Ploughman's spikenard

Inula conyza is a flower of late summer, found in messy grassy clearings in scrub on chalk slopes in the Chilterns. It is just coming into flower at the moment, but is easy to miss amongst ragwort and St. John's-wort that is past its best. I look forward to finding it each year.
