Fringe Day 3: ShowStopper!

Today is the first official day of the EdFringe.

Best of the Fest: Daytime
Assembly George Square Gardens (Venue 3)
https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/best-of-the-fest-daytime

This is a certified Universal show.
It was not U appropriate.

The first act - Wereldband: Släpstick was appropriate to the audience. Music and slapstick. What a younger audience would enjoy, and did.

The 2nd act - Simon Evans was a just vile set not suitable for the audience for which he was performing to. Swearing, moaning about being old. Not engaging with the audience. Just not good.

The 3rd act was just as poor. A lady (who didn't flyer at the end, and for whom we don't remember) re-enacting scenes where was played parts as "ladies of the night" - again not appropriate for the audience that was present.

Showstopper! The Improvised Musical
Pleasance Courtyard (Venue 33) ?

This was a great show to see. It takes ideas from the audience, mashes them together into a whole 65 minutes of musical, varying the style based on audience ideas.
The ideas from the audience were that our musical was based in a Psychic's office using musical themes of Les Miserables, The book of Mormon, Viva Forever (Ill fated Spice Girls musical!) and Sweeney Todd.
Despite what you would think the challenges are based on this the show was absolutely fantastic.

It was only topped off by S suggesting the show title and the audence agreeing, hence this blip!

We had dinner out, in a proper restraunt - Cafe Royal. Busy, but quick and tasty.

Andrew Lawrence: The Happy Accident Tour
Assembly Rooms (Venue 20) - BallRoom

We've been coming to see Andrew for a number of years now, always lead on by his long drolling diatribes. However, this year they were not present and he was in a more DILLIGAF mood with his comedy. He also hit a dark area talking about burning his house down with his family in it. A bit too dark for me given the recent tragedy of Grenfell. Its also the first time I've seen a number of people (4) walk from his shows. Admittedly this was as he hit this dark section of his set.

Genital Count: 3/5 sets mentioned in some way their genitals
