Old Diving Buddies

We've had a really excellent evening.
Some old diving friends had heard that we were moving to Wiltshire (we're not!) and organised about 30 odd reprobates to turn up at our local this evening where they had laid on a really super buffet. We thought we were meeting about 4 to 6 friends, so it was a bit of a shock.(We've since found out that another 20 sent apologies as they are currently away on their holidays.)
It was so nice to see all these people - some we hadn't seen for a few years, but we have known them all from between 15 to 40 years. Many a tale was told about all of our diving exploits in the "good old days". C and I met at the diving club (Stratford-on-Avon BSAC) 40 years ago this year, when he was my diving instructor, so we have many happy memories with this crowd.
One chap (strangely, the last time we saw him was on Dragon's Den) had driven over 50 miles to be there, then had the same journey back again.
We did have to explain to them all that "No - we are not moving to Wiltshire". We don't know why - but they all thought we were going there.
However - we ARE moving.
To Devon.
If you saw LooseCanon's blip from last Saturday - we are the friends who are moving. I've not wanted to say anything until contracts were exchanged - and I'm still crossing my fingers. What archaic property laws we have in England.
We may even see more of these old friends when we get down there as they often dive (or sail) on the Devon coast - which is one of the reasons why we wanted to move down to that area.
My extra is one of the four buzzards who were floating overhead today when we had our coffee on the patio. I wonder if we'll get buzzards in Devon?
