BEST FRIENDS FOR EVER

SOS Children's Villages has three villages in Angola, and one of them is built and fully funded of Fagforbundet, the biggest trade union in Norway.

Even if the oil has made the country one of the richest in Africa over 77 per cent of the 19 million Angolans live in poverty. The Norwegian Embassy told us that 47 people own 40 per cent of Angola's national wealth, and that the middle class is just about 100 000 - 200 000 people.

Because of previous civil war, poverty and poor health care services, the life expectancy is only 51 year, and half of the population is under 15 years old. 1,5 million of these kids are orphans.

Fagforbundets SOS Children's Village has 12 family houses with an SOS-mother and ten children in each house, a nursery for 100 children, a primary school for over 750 children and a local family strengthen program.

I and 8 other persons from Fagforbundet were lucky to meet the kids in "our" village and got to spend some precious moments together.
