My Hiraeth

I was brought up in England, on the edge of a cathedral town.  I always felt at home in the countryside.  And a longing I could not explain in words.  I have Scottish, Irish and Welsh ancestry, as well as other cultural ancestry.  But I think I have a 'homesickness', mainly for the Celtic side of my ancestry.  I could never explain why I felt unhappy in  urban surroundings.  But Hiraeth is the word for how I feel and have felt through growing up in an urban English town.  The mountains and countryside do call me.  Finding this word Hiraeth has restored my believe in myself.  In that my unhappiness in urban places is sane.  Because I belong to Nature :-).
