My first Norwegian

South Ribble Orienteering Club (SROC) have been organising a series of orienteering events in Chorley, tonight was the last one and it was a little bit different. The course on offer tonight was known as a Norwegian.

The idea is that at the start you pick up a map with the first control marked on it, you run to the first control where you dip the electronic timer and look at a segment of map that shows the next control, you match that segment to the correct part of your own map and either memorise or mark your map and run to the next control.

It was an interesting experience and made a nice change from my usual type of training run. We soon start the winter street orienteering league, every other Wednesday night, something to look forward to and a good training run.
