Thursday 20 September 2012: Day 1: Heaphy Beach
Left Christchurch at 7.45am, arrived Kohaihai (West Coast) around 2pm, on the bikes at 2.30. And immediately, a hill
Arrghh. This was supposed to be the flat part. A small hill however and we arrived at Heaphy Hutt at 4.30, a leisurely 2 hr ride. Albeit, partly in the rain.
But a beautiful sunset, slightly nervous of what's ahead ...
The Heaphy Hutt is in a superb location. A beach, estuary and a new hut nearly ready, Definitely one of the most fabulous places to spend a night or two, walking or biking.
