Dapper Drake

Another day another nature reserve, this time Amwell. I saw mallard drakes at Fishers Green yesterday still sporting their dowdy eclipse plumage. It was a surprise then to spot this one with his beautiful green head.

Today's poem is Elegy for Himself by Chidiock Tichborne. http://www.poetrybyheart.org.uk/poems/my-prime-of-youth-is-but-a-frost-of-cares/

Written at the age of 28 in The Tower before his execution and sent to his wife. Poor man was "disembowelled before life was extinct". All in the cause of religion. :(
