Clamp Firing in the Winter....

Don't worry it's only steam, this is what happens when bricks are left for a month before firing, re-absorption of moisture into the dry brick is then dried when the clamp is being fired up and loads of steam is driven off. Sometimes when the temperature is low you get steam all over the works, looks more dramatic than it really is.

This traditional way of firing brick is dying out and there is only 4 clamps left in the country, environmental consideration overide the asthetics of the brick, but if they die out completely, the restoration of old properties will not be done as the bricks will not match the older buildings.

Hope you like this blip.
