The Big Question Marks

Took a run down to the Clyde mudflats just now to see the seascape of question marks beginning to emerge in the river, along the waterside from Port Glasgow to Langbank.

It's the work of the George Wyllie Community initiative, The Big Question Marks.

It's not only schools which are celebrating the artwork of George Wyllie this autumn by creating their own!

More than 30 question marks are being created and placed in the river at the mudflats, where the old timber ponds once seasoned wood in salt water to be used to build ships in the nearby yards. Now, welders who once built ships in the Greenock yards are working with a group of around 30 unemployed and retired people to create the scul?tures.

With the help of Ferguson Shipbuilders in Port Glasgow, two giant question marks will also soon be hanging from the Finnieston Crane in Glasgow and the Titan Crane in Greenock.

Not such a great shot but I know a blip where there is one...
