Berlin War CWGC Cemetery Heerstrasse

This is but one of three, The others are  in what was formerly known as East Germany. Both have been brought up to CWGC standards .These date from WW1 and can be located in Stahnsdorf, Brandenburg (Berlin South West Cemetery) and Zehrensdorf  Indian Cemetery at Zossen. Each is as large as this .
Walking around one is struck by the age of those buried here. 20's being the norm .Most are airmen and you can see how members of the Commonwealth were involved.I've no idea if schools teach such facts in history.Hopefully they do. The sun shone , it was bitterly cold and one could only be thankful for the courage and unselfishness of these individuals .They did not run away nor stay far down under, in Canada , S Africa or India .Today's ceremony was very moving.
