The hills are alive with legends

This morning I escaped the chaos in the house and decided to revisit Lossburn reservoir on The Ochils.
This tiny reservoir, built in 1897, lies in a hidden glen above Menstrie.

Strange how memory plays tricks. I remembered it as much larger but that was several years ago.

The ruined farmhouse of Jerah next to the reservoir remains as eerie as ever though. Not surprising this area is full of legends especially around the ghost of a shepherd known as Auld Donald who is reputed to lure travellers to their death in the nearby Crunie Burn gorge.

As for the chaos, well we decided to have our wooden floors sanded. This should have been a simple operation, which escalated into a dust storm, the hiring of wrong sanding equipment, and much angry words.

Enough. The hills call.
