Bridge building competition!

One of the wonderful things about working in a University is the amazing things that are going on all the time! Today was the day of the annual engineering students' bridge building competition. Lots of bridges to be tested and lots of feet to get wet!

The idea is: "The first professional year students work in groups of five to design, construct and test a 4m long bridge made from a limited selection of materials and tools. The challenge was that the bridges had to be able to hold two people but be designed to break when a third person stood on it." You can see more here.

Lots of happy students sitting in the sun cheering their mates on and laughing a lot. It was a good bit of time out, on a sunny day in a lovely setting (I am sure you'll agree). See LARGE for details.

Later: For those who are asking "what happened next?"
Step 2 - OK so far
Step 3 - Uh oh
