The Picture House Screen 1 from the Balcony

(with at each side of the stage the "wee hooses" and the ceiling painted to represent the sky, restored as per the 1934 remodelling of the Picture House)

10.0C rainy all morning then dry but dull and very cloudy.
WSW/W/WNW/NW wind to 23 mph with gusts to 36 mph.

Grocery shopping.
Too rainy to enjoy a beach walk so we stayed at home until after lunch.

Apothecary7, Fergus, and I went for a walk out to the old shipyard after lunch.

Back in town we went to the Picture House so Apothecary7 could take advantage of the Picture House open day to have a look round. There were lots of people there which was great to see.

I went for a wander with Fergus then had a look myself, particularly to see the exhibition boards in the open space between screen 1 and screen 2. The story of the Picture House and memories of former customers is covered with text, quotes, photos, film adverts from the local paper and so on. The information is a combination of the stories we unearthed in the archive group and the research done by the author of the forthcoming book. There is also a timeline of the Picture House history and restoration in a frieze round the walls of the cafe. Opening day/night is Friday 22nd when the big attraction will be the new Star Wars movie.
