IN FULL VOICE

It was a horrible morning weather-wise, but we had been invited by some friends for coffee at Lechlade, which is about 10 miles from us.  The roads were not that good, what with potholes and a lot of lying water, so we were glad it wasn’t too far.

We had a lovely time catching up with them and along with the coffee and Earl Grey tea, helped to deplete their stock of Christmas cake and mince pies - it's always good to help friends out!

When we left them we went along the road to a nearby Garden Centre and thought we might stop for a spot of lunch, but it didn’t look that appetising, so we just wandered around looking at the items in the various sales.  Garden Centres seem to sell everything nowadays, but not being one to buy Christmas presents in January, we came away not spending a penny!

However, a bonus was that we could hear a little robin singing inside the Garden Centre, so when it flew away, we followed it outside and as it perched on a large garden ornament and sang beautifully for us, I got out my camera and took lots of shots.  Sadly it wasn’t the Canon with the long zoom, so this is the best shot I got but I’m happy on such a dull and dismal day to let this little robin have its 15 minutes of fame on Blip.

We then carried on towards Cirencester and as we were driving I remembered that a friend had taken me to an Organic Farm Shop sometime ago for lunch - so as it was well after 1 p.m., we decided to stop and Mr. HCB, who hadn’t been there before, was glad we did.  We enjoyed Leek and Cheddar quiche with four or five different salads and roast beetroot - so as you can imagine, I won’t be cooking this evening.

It may have been dull and dismal, but we have enjoyed our day - so thanks to Heather and Michael for brightening up our morning and this little robin for singing to us.  Life’s small pleasures are often the best.

     it has an answer.
It sings because
     it has a song.”
