Ella in the Lavenders

Big big day.......hot hot like 29 deg hot. We set off driving to Mt Cook village. The mighty Cook was looking splendid with Lake Pukaki showing off stunning tones of blues and teals. Pleased that the weather behaved as the kids haven't seen our highest mountain. We stopped off at a Lookout for some photos, pleased we did as the clouds drifted across from the West Coast soon after.
Once there we set off up the Hooker Valley crossing two swing bridges and viewing the lake as we passed. A great two hour walk shared with every nationality imaginable. Room for everyone. Even tour groups - how things have changed since we lived up there.
We had lunch in the cafe at The Hermitage, paid our respects to the great Sir Edmond Hilary - wonderful statue has been erected, in fact he unveiled it back in 2003.
A drive up the Tasman valley before heading back along the road that Doug was one of the roading engineer when built back in the early 70's. We lived up there for almost three years when Ella and Harry's mum and uncle were toddlers.
A stop off at the lavender farm on the way back ...... many more pictures but had to choose one to send to my phone to load for blip. Ella it is

We're all weary so eating in tonight

Another excellent and fun day.
