The Spotlight Kid and I met up at Mottisfont Abbey to celebrate his birthday of a couple of weeks before. As the previous day had been rainy and dull, we were pleased to find the day sunny and bright. A walk around the grounds showed us the River Test, the Walled Gardens and other features, and we could see the signs of the beginnings of autumn.

The house allowed photography in certain areas only due to copyright considerations, but I was given special dispensation to photograph some sheet music on the stand of a Bechstein (see below). Later on, a gentlemen played tunes on it in the thirties style that would have been heard at the former owner Maud Russell's soirees, and I was amused to hear a rendition of the Beatles' All My Loving.

There was also an exhibition on the theme of Water in the art gallery in the house.

When we had completed our visit, we strolled into the village and had a look at St Andrew's church.

On the drive home I went past some old lumps of stone.
