Marjorie's ramblings

A little oasis of beauty

As the garden flowers go over for the autumn and the borders take on a bedraggled appearance, there are tiny pockets of fresh beauty to be found. This climbing rose has had a bad year, not recovering well from much needed pruning this spring.

Today was the first day post-festival, so that meant we had a "wash up" meeting. It went well. We are pleased with how the festival went; there are a few learning points to take forward to next year. It's always tiring after all the excitement and the walking, so it was very pleasant to wander around the garden with camera in hand this afternoon.

I have softened the details in the image, apart from the very centre. Hope it looks romantic.

PS There was too much excitement here this evening, when our dinner guest fainted near the end of the main course. Walking 20 miles of St Oswald's Way with little food, followed by a glass of rioja and a hot meal seems to have been the cause. She was quickly back to normal.
