The Whys Man

You can set your watch by it

Beautiful day today, but running from one meeting to another, one place to another, looking at ways of helping schools to combine visits to the Wyllie exhibition with visits to a range of cultural centres on Clydeside. More of that another day, but running from one thing to another meant passing the Clyde Clock quickly, hence today's photo.

Last Thursday, the clock, the Running Clock, the Clyde Clock, whatever you know it as, was featured in a report on Radio Clyde. On the radio station's 25th anniversary, it commissioned George Wyllie to create the sculpture and then gifted it to the city. Radio Clyde is anxious to see the clock working again. A problem with the electrical supply has meant that it hasn't been accurate for some time but after a day of campaigning on air last Thursday, Radio Clyde reported that promises have been made it and that the clock will be powered again soon, and working as it once was.

The clock's been featured quite a few times on Blipfoto and it's great to look back through other people's journals. Here's a couple of examples, when it was working well whatever the weather. What a difference a day makes...
