Edward Johnston

"The man who signed London".

Designer of the Johnston (or Underground) typeface, one of the most recognisable and widespread fonts of the last hundred years. It is perhaps best known for being adopted by Transport For London throughout the London Underground.

This is the only blue plaque not written in the standard bespoke font.
