shotlandka's weebig world

Nizhny Novgorod

When I lived in Nizhny, one of the things we often did was go out for walks, it's what young people have to do in places where the flats tend to be small and it is far from usual to have your own room, or if you do then your parents may sleep on a sofa bed in the living room. So walks are a practical, as well as usually a fun way to spend time with your friends. One place we often walked as on the main Street, the Pokrovka in shorthand, which is pedestrianised and has some fun statues as well as the usual array of tourist stalls. One day at one of those stalls I bought these pictures, as well as some more as gifts, and they now hang in my flat to remind me of happy days in Nizhny. Clockwise from top right, they show one of the Nizhny Kremlin towers, I do know which one but can't remember right now, a woodland scene entitled 'A charm to the eyes', Nizhny's historic part (as opposed to the not so attractive industrial part, marked by things like a car factory that goes on for literally miles) viewed from the Volga, and a village scene entitled 'Far from the noise of the city'. Ah nostalgia!

A nice household day, then an evening hearing about 'The Needed Cross' at Greenview, great teaching and good company, topped off with nice coffee!

Once again I start a batch of blips to get back up to date, but will be back on Arran for a few days and hope to spend some time browsing through your lives as well as throwing bits of mine out into the ether.
