Thursday 18 October 2012: Supermarket Ghost

Today we wandered in to check out the new, big, flash Coles supermarket in Katoomba which is a vast improvement over the old one. In the end, it's a supermarket pretty much like any other but in shooting a few pictures I found that the camera was having to manage at a handheld shutter speed of one sixth of a second. Any kind of movement (of course) became a blur.

There's a visibility vest wearing attendant rounding up trolleys and at one sixth of a second he is little more than a ghost. There's nothing new about any of this but it just kind of struck me ... how transient are our lives ... verily "whisps of smoke". Forgive this excursions into maudlin philosophy. I'll try to manage something more cheerful tomorrow.
