My topsy-turvy life

The machines are taking over

I was working all day today and it was raining on my walk home so it's an indoor and work related blip...could be worse, it could be a pizza plate.

One of the things we look for is the separation pattern of proteins in the blood by a process called serum protein electrophoresis. This separates the protein in the serum into its component parts and, once done, we stain the protein patterns with an acid blue stain -hence the colour scheme here.
This is actually a view of the first part of the process, the probe of the autosampler going into one of the sample tubes to draw up 35?l of serum. This then gets pipetted into sample wells from where it gets transferred onto a gel ready to be electrophoresed.
