Inspired by Flumgummery’s walk, this afternoon we decided to find the Northshields Rings which was an ancient hill fort consisting of three concentric rings and ditches enclosing a central area (extra).  It was enjoyable walking alongside the Portmore Loch with signs of various animal tracks in the snow, and then up the hill to the fort, stopping at the two Scots pine trees to look back at the loch and north to the distant Pentlands.
