Hidden Stroud (noir) Part VI: Death of a milkmaid

What has happened to the milkmaid of Horns Farm?
Why are the once-bustling milking sheds filled now with horses?
Why does her chariot lie bereft, home to half a dozen woodlice?

I've been saving this milk float for a half-term blipwalk. She has gone beyond shabby chic or retro trendiness, and stands in a rural landscape beside the farm, next to the disused tennis courts that once graced the farmhouse. Like the Italian, Jewish and Jamaican populations of Stroud that came and went, and the Polish population that came and went, and came back again, she could tell some tales. Today she chose to remain silent. Perhaps I can offer her a milkshake, or an ice-cream float, to loosen her creeping senescence, and to tell her how much she is admired by so many who pass her on their way to the woods.

In Gloucestershire, woodlice are called chuckiepigs. Other regional names here.
My favourite episode of Father Ted, Speed 3, involves a milkfloat.
I have posted links on my bio to the other Hidden Stroud blips in the series.
