Tartanry re-defined

Tartanry, according to the dictionary is a derogatory term which means "the excessive use of tartan and other Scottish imagery to produce a distorted sentimental view of Scotland and its history".

Moira Dalgetty of the Isle of Bute Branch of the SNP has, I think , successfully redefined the term this week with her beautiful creations., on display in the marquee at te SNP Conference in Perth. Made, painstakingly, from many different tartans they take a wide variety of allegiances that might divide and bring them together in a new unity.

She has sold quite a number already, perfectly framed and presented. 10% of the proceeds go the the Yes Scotland campaign and her website will go live in early November. I suspect she will be inundated with orders.
