Canal Lock by the Dog and Doublet

Seeing a friend's blip on 13th October inspired me to make a return visit to the Dog and Doublet pub.

We have one of my sisters staying with us for the weekend, and my plan for today was for a walk taking in the pub and the nearby RSPB reserve at Middleton Lakes.

It didn't go quite according to plan. First, an accident on the M42 forced us to take a diversion, and then the usual entrance to Middleton Lakes was locked. At this point we decided to head straight to the pub for a drink. We then enjoyed a lovely walk in the sunshine along the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal to Middleton Lakes.

When we arrived at the bird reserve though we found it was too muddy so turned straight back down the canal. So instead of a bird blip today I have chosen this shot of the lock outside the Dog and Doublet.
