Sally Mair - Loving life

Auto!

These are autos, not Tuk Tuks, that is really the New Delhi name for these cheap and nippy taxis, tourists though have generalised and use the word all over the sub-continent.
The colours of the vehicles vary according to which state you are in. Here in Tamil Nadu they are yellow with a black roof, in Kerala black with a yellow roof, in New Delhi and Karnataka green with a yellow top.
This line up is outside the very busy state hospital. Hospitals here are very good but they only do the medical side of things. They vary greatly according to what you pay. They carry out scans, xrays etc, but there is often a very long days or even weeks wait. So most people have scans carried out elsewhere and bring them to hospital. It costs more but can usually be done the same day. It's very common to see people walking around with large envelopes containing scans or xrays.
Food and drink has to be brought in, bedding in some hospitals too. It is common for a relative to stay with a patient if they are in hospital.
The three girls are medical students in their college uniform.
The future for the U K?
