The Edge of the Wold

Sunset over Grange

It was a calm evening at New Barns Bay after the arctic winds and snow of the last few days. The sun reddened as it gently descended into a murky violet sky.

This was only the second afternoon walk along the estuary that Gus and I have had this year. The days are getting longer and there will be time soon for a walk along here after work. Gus hasn't forgotten any of the treat stops, and he was as keen as ever to do the Ashmeadow extension.

In the afternoon I had a welcome visit from Arnside Simon delivering the load of logs he had kindly pledged as one of the best of all Christmas presents. They will keep us warm until the Spring, which perhaps is not too far away now.
